128/05 DECLARATIONS OF PERSONAL INTEREST.

Cllr Unsworth declared an interest in Penistone Grammar School

Cllr Bradbury declared an interest in South Yorks Pensions Authority

 

129/05 REPORT OF BARNSLEY MEMBERS

Cllr G Punt reported that funding for first affordable homes had been a success.  There will be affordable housing built at Fir Tree Estate, Thurgoland and Lyttleton Crescent, Cubley, available to let for local people with an option to buy at reduced rates.  It is hoped that these homes will be available by Spring 2007 with more low cost housing pending in the future.

 

130/05 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP UPDATE

Cllr Unsworth reported that the launch of the “Penistone Guide” had been very successful and the guides were disappearing very quickly. Cllrs Mrs Collett, Mrs Bradbury and Mrs Rusby congratulated John Hislop and the artist concerned for an excellent publication.

 

131/05 PENISTONE GRAMMAR SCHOOL – FOUNDATION TRUST

Moved Cllr Harrison, seconded Cllr R HInchliff and RESOLVED that Cllrs Gregory, Punt, Mrs Rusby and Mrs Hinchliff continue as Governors.

 

132/05 MOTTRAM/TINTWISTLE BYPASS

Members stated that they had no objection to the idea of a bypass, but were extremely concerned about the effects on Thurlstone and Millhouse Green and that no consideration had been given to this side of the Pennines.  A letter was received from W.A.I.T asking for the Town Council’s support in rejecting the bypass, all Councillors received a copy.

 

133/05 PARAMOUNT REPORT

Cllr Mrs Elders reported that the Paramount had been given £5000 from Awards For All to help with the new sound system.  The childrens’ films were doing well and that Wednesday matinees are proving very popular with Barnsley audiences.

 

134/05 EXPENDITURE ITEMS

Moved by Cllr Mrs Collett, seconded by Cllr R Hinchliff and RESOLVED that the expenditure items from the General account be paid.

Moved Cllr J Unsworth, seconded Cllr Mrs Elders and RESOLVED that the expenditure items from the Paramount account be paid.

 

135/05 MILLHOUSE GREEN INSTITUTE

Moved Cllr Unsworth, seconded Cllr Harrison and RESOLVED that subject to receiving yearly accounts the rates would be paid.

 

136/05 SOUTH YORKSHIRE PENSIONS AUTHORITY

Moved Cllr Unsworth, seconded Cllr Starling and RESOLVED that the extra yearly premium be paid.

 

137/05 SUSPENSION OF STANDING ORDERS

No members of the Penistone Town Council area were present.

 

138/05 IN COMMITTEE

Moved Cllr Punt, seconded Cllr Mrs Collett that the Cinema Manager’s Post would be considered at a meeting of the Staffing Committee to be called as soon as possible.
