TaxiBus Service For Penistone

These buses are operated by Sheffield Community Transport and funded from the Government's Rural Bus Challenge Competition and the South and West Yorkshire Rural Transport Partnership. The buses normally used on these services incorporate many features to make travel easy for disabled or elderly people, parents with buggies or anyone who finds climbing steps a problem.

The buses have a wide step-free entrance leading to a flat floor, and the driver can also lower the front of the bus to make boarding even easier. There is a designated space for a wheelchair and the bright airy interior features easy-to-grip handrails and convenient palm-operated bell pushes.

The TaxiBus 301 - the bus that thinks it's a taxi - 50p per single journey

The 301 is a special kind of bus service, instead of running on a fixed route and at set times, it runs according to demand between 1915 and 2315 on Mondays to Saturdays (but not on public holidays) with the area shown on the map below.

TaxiBus 301 is especially convenient if you are traveling to or from Penistone Station between these times, but you can also use it for other local journeys within the defined area.

How Do I Use It? It's simple - just pre-book your journey by phoning 0114 285 9925 any time between 0900 and 2200 on Mondays to Saturdays, at least an hour before you want to travel. Just tell the operator where and when you want to be picked up and where you want to go (calls are charged at local rate from the Barnsley 01226 area), Bookings can be taken between 0900 and 2200). You can book as far in advance as you like, and you can also make a regular booking, Remember - it's first come, first served! Please tell the operator when you book if you need wheelchair access.

It must be Expensive! No - a single journey will cost you just 50p, and all the usual Transport Executive concessions and travel passes are still valid, Please note, however, that if you cancel your booking with less than an hour's notice, there will be a cancellation fee of £1.

Penistone TaxiBus 300 leaves Penistone Station for Penistone, Thurlstone and Ingbirchworth at these times: 1005, 1105, 1205, 1345, 1445, 1545, 1645, 1745 (Saturday) 1800 (Monday to Friday).
