Name: Penistone District Community Partnership Heritage and Tourism Project

The Hiritage and Tourism Project started in April 2005 and runs until 31 July 2006. Its main objective is to raise the profile of tourism in Penistone and District. To do this it is bringing out a guidebook to the area that wil have articles on the heritage of the district as well as advertising of local tourist related businesses. The book should be out early 2006. Heritage amd tourism related enterprises will be assisted, including local heritage groups businesses.

The Trans Pennine Trail is to be survayed for new signage that will identify exit/entry points and point to visitor attractions of the trail. Oral history will be worked on with local schools. Leaflets will also be produced on walking, cycling and othe heritage and tourism topics.

The group's aims are to address issues around Community safety at a local level by the involvement of the wider community. The group has bee in existence since November 2004 and has had a number of successes including working with Neighborhood Watch Liaison Group to develop further watching in the partnership area. An athletics club catering for all types of running on road cross country and fell. We have a thriving junior section catering from 8years old and above. Our headquarters are at Penistone Church Football Club and seniors meet there at 6.30pm on a Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year. Juniors meet as follows: summer, Tuesday 6.30pm and Fridays 6.00pm at Penistone Grammar School playing fields and winter, Tuesday 6.30pm at Penistone Church Football Club and Fridays 6.00pm at Penistone Leisure Centre. Training is varied and organised by UK athletics accredited coaches.

Members compete in local road, fell and cross country races and have an active social life with events organised by the club.

We hold 3 races each year - Harcliffe Hill race in April, Thurlstone Chase in July and Penistone Show 10k road race in September.

Name: Penistone Three 9'ers Penistone Three 9'ers was formed in 1995 by a team of voluntary staff from the police, fire and ambulance stations of Penistone. We are a registered charity (no 1053995) with it's aims and objects being to fundraise for local projects and goo causes in the penistone and surrounding areas.
The Penistone Three 9'ers in Partnership with Penistone Communit Transport operate a Community mini bus which operates under a special section '19 minibus permit' the bus can only be driven by a volunteer driver (with a MIDAS certificate) from group who have a charitable educational, religious, sporting or philanthropic need. The Three 9'ers also in Pertneship with Penistone Town Council and Peniston Round Table organise the Penistone Mayor's Parade and Gala each year.
