Chris Evans - Programme Support Worker
Background:
Born in Cheshire I grew up and was educated in Runcorn and graduated from Huddersfield University. I have stayed in Huddersfield since finishing University and bought a house there two years ago. My background has been a mix of office work and retail management with 5 years experience in the former and 4 in the latter.
Current Activities:
I currently support both the co-ordinators for Penistone Leader+ and Penistone Market Town Initiative in my position as a Regeneration Programme Support Officer.
· My main role is to assist in the day to day running of the projects and represent both Leader+ and MTI at conferences and public events such as the Penistone Show and the recent Positive About Penistone event.
Interests:
I teach the martial art Taekwon-Do, run my own club based in Huddersfield and am secretary of the Northern Taekwon-Do Alliance, an association of three clubs, with eight black belts and over thirty students. I spend the rest of my free time with my girlfriend and friends, catching up with the latest movies at the cinema and dabbling in the kitchen to concoct new Italian, Chinese and Thai recipes of my own creation (I'm told my banana curry is to die for!).

A member of Penistone Leader+ LAG, with specific interests in local environmental issues.
Chairman of the Penistone Farmers' Market Committee.
Closely involved in the Upper Don Valley river developments, farming, industrial and green energy projects.
Interests:
I have had many sporting interests including playing football, cricket, tennis, golf and continue to enjoy country field sports including shooting, fishing and gundog training. I am a committed Christian, currently property steward at Springvale Methodist Church and a member of Penistone Churches Together Committee, working for the benefit of all members of the local community.

John Wade
Background:
A Penistone Rural District Councillor from 1966 to 1974. Barnsley Metropolitan Councillor from 1976 to 2000. Oxspring Parish Councillor. Invented and proposed to the Ministry of Transport the use of the ‘Long Vehicle' plates now displayed on all heavy haulage both in England and throughout Europe. Campaigned for 30 years to eradicate the ferrlinginous contamination of the River Don. This has now been completed and has helped the return of ecological life in Penistone and district.

Born in Suffolk, educated in Northamptonshire and graduated from Nottingham University. I grew up on a farm and spent 20 years in livestock farming and the provision of technical advice.
Current Activities:
A member of the Penistone leader+ LAG through my job as Farm Business Advisor for Business Link South Yorkshire.
In my role as Farm Business Advisor I provide point of contact advice and guidance on issues that impact the farming community. I help rural businesses to critically assess and effectively manage what they do, particularly looking at diversification and co-operation.
I have been involved in the operation of the Penistone farmers' market from the start of 2002 and continue to support it to help ensure that all goes as planned.
